Programme Details
The program aims to produce semi-professional graduates who possess a systematic understanding of library and information governance. The program focuses on the conventional elements of librarianship while also introducing students to the latest elements of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the digitization process. This is in accordance with the needs of the library and information service industry, aligned with the aspirations of Industry 4.0, Big Data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The developments in library science suggest that libraries are changing in terms of the way they operate, a change driven by the adoption of current technology. The program also provides an opportunity for graduates to enhance their skills in using the latest technology employed by libraries for executing related information work, and in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda in the field of education, specifically the goal of providing quality education. The curriculum is designed to empower students' competitiveness by emphasizing practical, technical, and soft skills. The curriculum also seeks to produce students who possess well-balanced social skills, including communication, leadership, teamwork, and digital skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and develop appropriate technology and applications.
